Foster Care

Foster Care is an important network of foster homes that provide temporary housing and care for kittens, cats, puppies and dogs.  Volunteers provide love, fun, and basic needs for animals that would do best in a home environment.  If you would like to join our Foster Care Program, submit the short application or Download the Application, fill it out and return to us  and someone will contact you. You will be changing a pets life by giving them a loving start on their way to a forever home.

Pet Foster Application

Why Foster?

Animals come to HSOC in many different conditions. Some are too young for a shelter environment,  needing attention and care to give them a healthy, well socialized start in life making them the type of pet adopters are looking for. Senior pets or pets with a medical challenge may need a quiet home and medications administered.  Some of the animals that come to us are neglected, abused, abandoned, and having conditions such as severe mal-nutrition, wounds, and anxiety or fearfulness.

What will I need to purchase?

Nothing! We will provide food, medicine, advice and all other essentials. You just need to provide a safe environment, attention and lots of love. If medical issues arise, you will be instructed by HSOC on where to take the pet.

How long will I have the pet(s)?

Fostering is a big commitment because it can take many months for an animal to be adopted.  Kittens and Puppies tend to go quicker but require more work. It is very rewarding when you see the results.

Do I have to be approved?

Yes, your application will be reviewed and they will determine if the type of pet you are willing to foster seems like a good fit for your home, family, other pets, and lifestyle. This is to insure there will be no unforeseen problems for you or the pet(s).
